Gabrielle Giffords left intensive care on Wednesday, for the first time since the shooting. Due to her "lightning speed" progress, she is being moved to a rehab centre to undergo several months of rehabilitation. Doctors say that a speaking valve will be inserted into her breathing tube, to assist speech. Giffords has been in intensive care since the day of the incident, on Jan. 8. She was moved under heavy guard from local police to the rehab centre at TIRR Memorial Hermann. New evidence of her shooter Loughner, shows that he may not be insane, and will help them pursue charges that could lead to the death penalty.
My opinion on this story, is I agree. What the doctors are going to great lengths to do for Gabrielle Giffords is great because they are saving her life. They hope that one day she will be able to perform all or almost all the natural functions of a human (i.e. eating, walking) by herself. I also agree with the evidence shown to prove the shooter Loughner is in fact not insane, meaning they can now push for the death penalty. Evidence shows that just days before the shooting, Loughner was researching, lethal injections and solitary confinement on his computer, which means he was able to distinguish right from wrong and now will most likely be proved not insane.
