Dog crawls home on broken legs 3 weeks after tornado

A canine from Birmingham, Ala., is leaving veterinarians incredulous after the family pet found his way home with two broken legs three weeks after being blown away by a tornado. A one-year-old terrior mix named Mason was hiding in his family’s garage in the Birmingham suburb of North Smithfield on April 27, when he was sucked out by the massive tornado, that killed 40 people and destroyed the whole neighbourhood. Despite a long and desperate search Mason could not be found. Amazingly, three weeks later, the family arrived home one day to find their beloved pooch, mouth agape and stumpy tail wagging like crazy, sitting on the front porch. The pups to front legs were flopping below the elbows, and he basically had to crawl back to his house using his elbows. The little guy had no indication of pain, remarkably. He was just happy to be home.”

I was really happy when I read this article to find out that this dog survived. Being a dog lover myself, having this dog survive was great. I found this article so interesting because of the detail they used, and how the dog had three broken legs and persevered and came home to his family. I love the fact that he didn't even care about the pain he was in, he just wanted to get home to his loving family.

Mark Zuckerberg plays down Facebook’s role in Arab revolt

The founder of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg has played down the importance of his social networking website for the popular revolutions that occurred recently in Egypt and Tunisia, which brought down presidents. Zuckerberg says that the recent wave of protests against autocratic governments storming through the Arab world could easily have been organized through several other websites that use social networking. The 27-year-old said that it would be completely arrogant for a technology company of his kind to take the credit and claim a key role. Zuckerberg also told a meeting on Internet governance in Paris on Wednesday that he considers online anonymity very valuable. Zuckerberg also states that Facebook will continue to require new and all users to sign up with their real names, and he has no immediate desire to open the social networking services to children under the age of 13.

I think that Zuckerberg is afraid to take a semi compliment. His social networking website, Facebook helped allow the people of these Arab countries live in Democracy. It was because of these globally herd cries on Facebook, that they were acknowledged, and partially why there was such a huge change in governing their countries. I think it can be said that Facebook allowed the world to know about the problems these people were facing on a daily basis, and helped them become free.

Slave Lake evacuated as wildfire rages in Alberta

Thousands of people were fleeing their homes Sunday evening as a strong wind blows the wildfire out-of-control into a northern Alberta town where hundreds of buildings were destroyed. The town of Slave Lake has a population of 7,000 people who were forced to pack into parking lots and beaches and other open areas to wait for the general evacuation that was underway. According to local radio station 92.7 lake FM, says their studio along with the city hall and hundreds of other buildings in Slave Lake have been engulfed by the flames. City officials and citizens are calling it crazy and they are in real trouble.

I read this article in disbelief and I am still shocked about this. This is being called one of the worst natural disasters in Canada ever. I could not believe that hundreds of buildings are being taken by the fire. When this ends (hopefully soon) all of the citizens are going to be left without homes and jobs. Also the town was forced to shut down a crude pipe that passes through, in risk of feeding the fire more. This creates more problems for the place that crude goes to.

Al Qaeda calls for revenge attacks after bin Laden death

Al Qaeda is warning that the U.S. has committed a "big mistake" and serious sin against them by killing Osama Bin Laden. They are calling on all Muslims to massively avenge the death of their faithful leader. In a statement that has been posted on the Internet, Al Qaeda's media organization, Al-Fajir, says the American people "will pay a severe price" for the raid that was performed by American special ops on May 2 that killed Bin Laden in his compound in Pakistan. The article acknowledges that the president Barack Obama "is protected by armies," but they ask Americans "who will protect them against their raid and attack on the people?" The statement also urges the Muslim people to use Bin Laden's death as motivation to carry out their own attacks, according to the transcript provided Tuesday by the SITE Intel group, which monitors these kinds of militant messages.

After reading this article I felt scared for the American people. The people who wrote this article seem serious, and I feel their will be some severe attacks in the near future. It was posted by many media outlets that killing Bin Laden will end terrorism on American turf, and also bring the American troops out of Afghanistan. I believe the exact opposite. I think that this killing will anger the terrorist more and increase the frequency and severeness of their attacks on the American people.
